We show you how to create the perfect print files and achieve the best results for you and your customers.
The right settings are everything!
Everyone here works with Adobe programs, especially Adobe Illustrator, of course! You can get started straight away and vectorise your designs. That is exactly what we recommend: vector data. With images or PNGs, white flashes can occur because incomplete pixels are filled in, and that should certainly not be your standard of quality.
The colour profile our printers print in is iso.Coatedv2 and, of course, in the CMYK colour space. If you do not have this colour profile installed, just send us a short email and we will be happy to send it to you!
Check your files before saving!
How often have you seen a file error from us light up in your inbox? Ideally, check your files again before you send us your order; only then can delays be avoided!
- Have you removed all unnecessary layers and not just hidden them?
- Are your designs free of backgrounds?
- Have you selected the correct colour space/colour profile?
- Have your fonts been converted to paths/curves?
- Do your designs contain transparencies? (Because of the white underbase, they usually do not come out as intended)
- Is your line thickness at least 0.4 mm? And the space in between at least 0.6 mm?
- Are your designs embedded?
- Is everything you need on the sheet?
- Are your designs on the artboard, with nothing outside it?
- Have you kept to the correct dimensions you ordered?
- Are your files no more than 2 metres long? (Unfortunately, our RIP reaches its limits with files over 2 m. This delays production processes. They are also difficult to handle when packing)
- Are the colours within the printable CMYK colour space?
- Have you set up your white designs in white?
- Are your grey tones set up in pure K? (Mixed grey can have a green cast and therefore not be colour-accurate)
We use Adobe Acrobat Reader, where you can display the transparency grid in the page view under Preferences (Ctrl+K). That is how we see your files, and that is how we always see your white designs!
Once saved, check again!
Once you have checked everything, you can save the file as a PDF and, ideally, compress it. The smaller the files, the faster our printers are! Of course, it is not always possible to keep the file small, especially with very detailed designs.
How many copies of your prints do you need? / We cannot read minds!
If you want a file more than once, state the quantity directly in the file name. That way, the number of copies you want can be recorded right when your order is created. For example: file_a_6x.pdf; file_b_1x.pdf; file_c_1x.pdf
Alternatively, you can enter the quantity you want in the ‘Additional information’ field.
We will not leave you in the lurch!
To be on the safe side, you can always add our Pro File Check to make sure that no unwanted layers are printed, that the files are set up in the correct format and that they have the correct colour space/colour profile.
