Print files and graphics for DTF

A clean print starts with the file. Here you will learn when a pixel or vector graphic is the better choice, how to export PDF and PNG files correctly and how to build your gang sheet so no space is wasted.

For cut transfers, we show you step by step how to create a CutContour in Illustrator, Affinity, CorelDRAW or Canva. And with the online Designer, you can put your gang sheet together right in your browser.

Quick check before you upload

These points help you avoid the most common problems with print files:

• Set up the design at its final size, at 300 dpi
• Make the background transparent, with no semi-transparent edges
• Lines and elements at least 0.4 mm thick
• Set up in CMYK and do not mirror it; our printer takes care of that
• For cut transfers, one closed CutContour line per design, with 5 mm spacing to other lines and to the design

PDF or PNG?

For a design with a transparent background, a PNG is enough. As soon as you need a cut line, it has to be a PDF, because only a PDF can carry the CutContour spot colour. Find out more in the article PDF and PNG compared.
