Blockout DTF transfers against resublimation
For polyester and other textiles prone to resublimation, from a single piece, with tiered prices and optionally as express production.
Blockout DTF is developed for dyed polyester textiles and materials with an increased risk of dye migration. The transfer works with a special adhesive. This reduces the risk of dyes from the textile migrating into light areas of the design under the heat of the press.
- Colour DTF print with white
- Blockout adhesive
- Dyed polyester textile
Blockout DTF is suitable for 100 per cent polyester and blends with at least 40 per cent polyester. Impregnated or water-repellent coated textiles are not suitable. As material, dyeing and production batch affect the result, a test press on the same item is recommended before a run.

- Express available
DTF Transfer Blockout - Single Design
DTF Transfer Blockout as a single design Blockout is the DTF version with a special adhesive that holds back dyes from the textile. Here you order a single design and decide the quantity yourself; it is printed in high-resolution four-colour print with opaque white. What the Blockout adhesive does With DTF Standard, the adhesive is designed for cotton and cotton blends. Blockout was developed for dyed polyester textiles, where the heat of the press can draw dyes into light areas of the design. This bleeding of the textile colour into your design is known as resublimation. The Blockout adhesive holds back dyes from the textile and significantly reduces this risk. You do not need to set up anything for it in your print file, as the adhesive is already in every transfer. Typical uses are jersey sets and teamwear that always carry the same sponsor logo or club crest. Quantity and pricing You upload your design as one file and state how often it should be printed. The sheet builder handles arranging and duplicating on the sheet, so you do not need to worry about print width or sheet length. The price is based on the design area multiplied by the quantity, charged per square metre. All prices are net prices. Delivery is as one continuous sheet. The copies of your design sit side by side on one roll; nothing is cut individually. Blockout adhesive holds back dyes from the textile One file with one design, quantity as needed Charged per square metre of design area From a single piece, no minimum order value PDF or PNG with one page, maximum 500 MB How to set up the print file Build the design at its actual size, with a transparent background and without bleed, ideally at 300 dpi in CMYK. For the colour profile, we recommend ISO Coated v2 (ECI); lines should be at least 0.4 mm thick, and the design must not be mirrored. You can use gradients within the design, but not gradients that fade out into transparency, because every trace of colour is backed with white. How to order First, choose whether to add the optional Pro File Check. It includes two correction rounds. Then upload your one-page PDF or PNG, enter the quantity you want and add your selection to the basket. Multi-page PDFs are reported as a file error. If we notice something about the file, you will receive an email and can send the corrected print file by email. Temperature, pressing time and pressure are listed in the heat press settings.
DTF Transfer Blockout - Custom Length
Blockout DTF in a custom length You decide how long your roll will be: between 10 centimetres and 3 metres in one piece, with a print width of 600 mm. Nothing is rounded up to full metres; you pay for the length you set up in your file. You can combine logos, numbers and sponsor designs for jersey sets, teamwear and recurring polyester orders on one roll. The Blockout adhesive against resublimation is part of every transfer; you do not need to set up anything extra for it. Any length from 10 cm to 3 m Print width 600 mm No rounding up, you pay for the real length Blockout adhesive reduces the risk of resublimation from polyester High-resolution four-colour print with opaque white From a single piece, no minimum order value File format PDF or PNG Print files for your roll Set up your file 600 mm wide and exactly as long as you want to order the roll, between 100 and 3000 mm. Place several designs close together so that as little of the roll as possible stays empty. If possible, set up the file at 300 dpi in the CMYK colour space. We recommend ISO Coated v2 (ECI) as the colour profile. Make the background transparent, create lines at least 0.4 mm thick, and do not mirror the gang sheet. You can use normal colour gradients within a design or image. You should avoid gradients that fade out into transparency, as every trace of colour is backed with white. Ordering your custom length step by step In the first step, choose whether to add the optional Pro File Check. Next comes the upload: single-page files in PDF or PNG format. The length is read from your file. Drag and drop further files and enter the quantity you want for each file. Once everything is set up, add your selection to the basket. A file may be no larger than 500 MB. Multi-page PDFs are reported as a file error. If something is wrong with a file, we will contact you by email, and you can then send the corrected print file by email. The right values for temperature, pressing time and pressure are listed in the current heat press settings.

DTF Transfer Blockout - BY THE METRE 600 x 1000 mm
Blockout DTF by the metre, 600 x 1000 mm A metre of Blockout DTF is the run format for jerseys, sportswear, softshell and other dyed polyester items with an increased risk of dye migration. You fill the 600 mm wide roll with several designs. The Blockout adhesive sits under every design on the roll. It holds back dyes from the textile and significantly reduces the risk of dye migration. Print area measuring 600 x 1000 mm Printed in CMYK with opaque white and Blockout adhesive Available from a single piece, larger quantities are cheaper thanks to the tiers Suitable for polyester and blends with at least 40% polyester Not suitable for impregnated or water-repellent coatings Setting up the Blockout roll As a basis, use the file under Template, or build the roll directly in the DTF Designer instead. The final size ordered is 600 x 1000 mm. We recommend 300 dpi, the ISO Coated v2 (ECI) colour profile, transparent backgrounds and lines at least 0.4 mm thick. We take care of the Blockout adhesive during printing, so you do not need to set up anything for it in your file. Remove the guide layers and do not mirror the file. Colour gradients within a design are possible. With transparency gradients, the printed result may differ from what you see on screen because of the white underbase. It is best to check whether the polyester item is suitable before starting a run. How ordering Blockout by the metre works If you like, add the Pro File Check first and then upload your single-page PDF or PNG files. Drag and drop further rolls and set a separate quantity for each. Finally, go through all the details once more and add the film by the metre to your basket. The upper limit is 500 MB per file. Multi-page PDFs lead to a file error. We will then send you an email so that you can send the corrected file by email. You will find additional technical details in the heat press settings.

DTF Transfer Blockout 600 x 500 mm
Blockout DTF as a half metre, 600 x 500 mm The half metre of Blockout DTF suits smaller runs on dyed polyester textiles, where dyes can migrate into light areas of the design under the heat of the press. To counter this, the sheet works with a special adhesive that lowers the risk. On a 600 mm width, jersey logos, numbers or mixed designs fit side by side. Blockout DTF with a special adhesive against dye migration Suitable for 100 per cent polyester and blends with at least 40 per cent polyester Not suitable for items with impregnation or a water-repellent coating Available from a single piece, tiered prices available Four-colour print with opaque white Template and print files for the Blockout sheet You will find the working file for 600 x 500 mm in the Template tab. Delete the guide layers before you export, and if possible set up the sheet at 300 dpi and ISO Coated v2 (ECI), with lines at least 0.4 mm thick. Do not mirror the file, and keep the background transparent. You do not need to set up anything in the file for the Blockout adhesive, neither an additional layer nor a separate colour channel. Ordinary colour gradients within a design can be printed. Transitions that fade completely into transparency are not recommended, because the white underbase lies beneath them. Check the suitability of the material before a run, especially with impregnations and water-repellent coatings. How to order the half metre of Blockout In the first step, decide on the Pro File Check. Then drag your print files into the field, one at a time or several at once, each as a single-page PDF or PNG, and enter the quantity for each file. Once you have checked the quantities, add the selection to your basket. A file may be no larger than 500 MB. Multi-page PDFs trigger a file error. You will then receive an email and can send the corrected print file by email afterwards. The product-specific heat press settings are available separately.

DTF Transfer Blockout - A3
Blockout DTF in A3, 297 x 420 mm Blockout DTF in A3 offers room for back numbers, sponsor designs or several smaller logos on polyester garments. The Blockout adhesive reduces dye migration, which is most likely to become visible with red, orange, neon colours and dark shades. As long as film by the metre is not yet worthwhile, the sheet is the right size for individual orders and top-ups. Opaque DTF print in CMYK plus white Special adhesive against dye migration already included in the transfer From a single piece and with tiered prices For polyester and blends with at least 40% polyester Single-page PDF or PNG file Setting up the Blockout sheet in A3 You will find a suitable working file in the Template tab. Set it up at exactly the final size of 297 x 420 mm, as the sheet is neither trimmed nor scaled afterwards. When exporting, 300 dpi makes sense, with CMYK as the colour space and ISO Coated v2 (ECI), plus a transparent background and details no smaller than 0.4 mm. Do not mirror the file. You do not need to worry about the Blockout adhesive in the file; production takes care of that. Depending on how the polyester item is dyed, migration can vary in strength. If a larger customer run is coming up, test beforehand on exactly the material and batch that will be used later. How to order the Blockout sheet in A3 First comes the question of whether you want to add the optional Pro File Check. Then upload your single-page PDF or PNG files, several at once if you like, and enter the quantity you want for each file. Take your time to check that each quantity is next to the right file, and then add the product to your basket. A maximum of 500 MB applies per upload file. A multi-page PDF is rejected. If something is wrong with the files, we will contact you by email, and you send the corrected file the same way. The right values for pressing are listed under heat press settings.

DTF Transfer Blockout - A4
Blockout DTF in A4, 210 x 297 mm A4 is the compact Blockout format for individual logos, chest designs and initial material tests on dyed polyester. The Blockout adhesive holds back dyes that migrate upwards from the textile and helps keep light print areas clean. If you are planning a jersey or softshell run, use the small sheet to test the specific material batch first while keeping the effort low. Intended for polyester textiles where dye can migrate The special adhesive is already in the transfer; you do not need a separate layer in the print file Even a single piece is produced Tiered prices depend on the quantity Single-page file as PDF or PNG Print files for the Blockout sheet in A4 In the Template tab, you will find the matching format file ready for you. The sheet must measure exactly 210 x 297 mm to the millimetre, as we do not trim anything and do not scale your file. We recommend 300 dpi, the ISO Coated v2 (ECI) colour profile, a transparent background and lines of at least 0.4 mm. Please do not mirror. The finished transfer already contains the Blockout adhesive, so you do not need to set up anything for it in the print files. Blockout is intended for suitable polyester items. Textiles with a waterproofing treatment or a water-repellent coating are not among them. Before a larger run, a material test on the original item is still recommended. Putting together your A4 order and sending files If you are unsure about the files, add the Pro File Check. Then drag your single-page PDF or PNG files into the upload field, enter the number you want for each file and add the fully configured order to your basket. The quantity tiers are shown directly on the product. The upload allows a maximum of 500 MB per file. Multi-page PDFs are reported as faulty. You will then receive an email and can send the matching single page by email afterwards. You will find the pressing values in the current heat press settings.

CUT DTF Transfer Blockout - BY THE METRE 560 x 1000 mm
CUT Blockout DTF by the metre, 560 x 1000 mm CUT Blockout DTF combines a special adhesive for dyed polyester textiles with contour-cut individual designs. The designs on the sheet are all the same size, can be removed without cutting by hand and are therefore easier to position on jerseys or teamwear. For designs that are needed again and again, and for larger B2B quantities, this saves you working time. Blockout DTF with a special adhesive against dye migration Contour-cut designs on 560 x 1000 mm For suitable polyester items without a water-repellent coating From a single piece, with tiered prices Print-ready file with CutContour required CUT Blockout template and cut paths Use the file under Template. Draw a closed contour around each individual design, with a line thickness of at least 1 pt. Give this line a spot colour named exactly CutContour. Keep at least 5 mm of space in each case: from cut line to cut line as well as from the line to the printed design. You do not set up anything in your file for the Blockout adhesive. Further examples are shown in the article Creating a CutContour. Save the print file as a single page and without mirroring. Set up the design in CMYK, keep the background transparent, and make print elements at least 0.4 mm thick. How to upload your CUT Blockout sheet Before uploading, decide whether to add the Pro File Check. Then upload your PDF with all cut paths fully set up, enter the quantity and add the fully configured item to your basket. If you order several sheets, each file gets its own quantity. Uploads are limited to 500 MB, and multi-page PDFs are not possible. If an error is found, you will receive an email and can send the corrected PDF by email as well. Notes for pressing are listed under heat press settings.

Sample Pack - All in One
Sample Pack All in One: test DTF, UV DTF and sublimation before you order How a print feels, how sharp its edges are and how well it covers only becomes clear on the finished print, not on screen. That is why the Sample Pack contains test prints of our products and other prints, so you can feel the differences for yourself before you place your first larger order. These samples are included Test print with DTF standard adhesive Test print with DTF Blockout adhesive Mini colour chart as a sample UV DTF standard print as a sample UV DTF print in matt as a sample UV DTF print in transparent as a sample Sublimation print as a sample Standard and Blockout in direct comparison For cotton and cotton blends, the DTF standard adhesive is intended. The Blockout adhesive was developed for dyed polyester textiles and holds back dyes that could otherwise migrate into light areas of the design under the heat of the press. The surest way to tell which adhesive suits which textile is to lay both samples side by side and feel them yourself. You will find the details under DTF transfers. UV DTF in three finishes The pack contains three versions of UV DTF: Standard is opaque and glossy, Matt has a more understated surface, and Transparent has no white print, so the surface shows through the design. The quickest way to find out which one suits your material is to place the samples on the surface you want to decorate, i.e. on the glass, metal or plastic. More details under UV DTF transfers. How to go about testing First, go through the samples by hand and pay attention to how they feel and how the edges look. In the second step, press one of them with your own press onto a textile that you sell yourself. The test piece then goes in the wash, following the care instructions of the textile and ideally over several cycles, so that you can judge colour fastness and edges after washing too. You will find everything about application in the FAQ. Always do the test on an offcut and never on a finished item from a customer order.
DTF Colour Chart CMYK with 964 Colours
Colour-accurate printing instead of guessing on screen Your screen glows, a printed textile does not. A monitor mixes colour from light, whereas a DTF transfer mixes it from pigment that sits on the fabric. That is exactly why a shade on the shirt almost always looks different from how it looked on the computer. What you get here is therefore not a screen sample or a paper sample, but a real printed DTF transfer. The set consists of 10 colour charts in A3 format. Spread across these charts are 964 colour swatches, each labelled with its CMYK value underneath. This means colour matching happens before production, including any adjustments, rather than as a correction after the first proof. How to get from the colour swatch to your print file On the pressed chart, pick out the swatch that matches the shade you want, note the CMYK value underneath and enter it in your print file. Set up the file in the CMYK colour space with ISO Coated v2 (ECI) as the colour profile, as this is our standard for DTF transfers. That way, the result is clear before your first file even reaches us, and a repeat order ends up in the same shade as the first one. You will find everything about setting up files in the FAQ. Press the charts onto black textiles Judge the shade on the pressed print, not on screen Note the CMYK value on the swatch Enter this value in your own file Keep the chart for later approvals and repeat orders Why the background should be black Please always press the colour charts onto black textiles so that you get the best colour perception. Every DTF transfer has a white base layer that separates the design from the fabric. Against a black background, the opacity shows in full and the colour impression stays true, because no light fabric shows through and lifts the shade. We explain how the individual layers are built up under DTF transfers. Who benefits from the set The chart helps wherever a shade has to be fixed reliably: for company and club colours, for runs that are reordered again and again over months, and for customers who expect to approve the colours before printing. Instead of a vague description, you then have a colour swatch with a clear CMYK value on the table. You will receive 10 colour charts in A3, printed as DTF transfers. Colour charts are excluded from complaints. This does not apply to defective colour charts.
Pro File Check
2 correction rounds The Pro File Check does not include any design work. The file check does not apply to Designer products and express products. The Pro File Check cannot be ordered on its own, i.e. without the associated product order, because we would then have no file to check. If an order contains only the file check, we therefore have no choice but to cancel it. If you would like to add the check afterwards, this must be agreed with our support team. Not sure whether your uploaded files are set up correctly? Or would you simply like us to check them again? No problem. The Pro File Check is exactly what you need! If we find something in your files that is not right, they will not go to print as they are. Instead, we will contact you and tell you what needs to be adjusted. What we check: Format: Are your files set up in the format you ordered? Colour: Are your files set up in CMYK? Is the correct colour profile embedded? Is the main transparency set up correctly? In other words, we check that the gang sheet is not completely covered by an area of colour. This only refers to the main transparency of the sheet, not the transparencies within the graphics, because we cannot judge whether they are intended If your files do not meet our requirements, the production and delivery time of your DTF transfers may be extended or postponed by the time it takes for the new files to arrive.
Typical B2B orders
Product examples for Blockout DTF transfers
Blockout DTF is mainly used for strongly dyed polyester and textiles with an increased risk of dye migration. Nevertheless, check material, coating and heat resistance on the specific item before every run.
- Reduces bleeding on polyester, sports textiles and fluorescent colours.
- Bright, opaque white even on red, orange and dark blue.
- From a single piece, with no minimum order value and washable at 30 degrees according to the product information.

Printing jerseys
Strongly dyed polyester is the classic case for Blockout. A special adhesive holds back the textile dye, and names and numbers stay clean.

Printing performance shirts
Running shirts made of performance fabric tend to bleed when pressed. The Blockout adhesive reduces this risk significantly, but you should still test your shirt first.

Printing softshell jackets
The back offers plenty of space for company and club logos. Make sure you choose a smooth area without seams and pockets.

Printing sports trousers
Training trousers and shorts in strong colours. Even small numbers and names stay legible throughout the season.

Printing sports bags
Robust polyester fabric, large print area. Team name and logo sit precisely and withstand everyday use.

Printing backpacks
Backpacks made of polyester fabric, as long as the material is not coated. The print lies flat and does not wear off from rubbing against your back.

Printing hi-vis vests
Fluorescent colours bleed particularly heavily. The Blockout adhesive keeps orange and yellow out of the design much better. Dye migration can never be ruled out completely, so always test your vest first.

Printing work jackets
Workwear made of blends, often with a high polyester content. Washable at 30 degrees when turned inside out, so the jacket keeps up with everyday work.

Printing clubwear
Complete jersey sets in one go. From a single piece and significantly cheaper as soon as you order several designs together.

Printing caps
Small area, strong colour. On dark polyester, the lettering stays sharp and opaque.

Printing polo shirts
Trade fair and service clothing made of performance fabric. The logo stays clean even if the polo is strongly dyed.

Printing aprons
Bistro and bib aprons made of polyester blends, often in burgundy or black. The bib offers a smooth surface for the logo, and the Blockout adhesive holds back the textile dye.
Advice before you order
Everything you need to know about Blockout DTF transfers
Here you will find help deciding on material and format, as well as all information on print files, ordering, application and customer service.
What is Blockout DTF and why can polyester cause problems?
Blockout DTF is a DTF transfer with a special adhesive that holds back dyes from the textile. When dyed polyester textiles are pressed, dyes can be released from the material and migrate into the applied design. Particularly strong red, orange, neon and dark shades can show through light or white print areas. The Blockout adhesive reduces this dye migration.
Resublimation describes the renewed release of dyes due to heat. Dye migration is the visible migration of these dyes into the transfer. The result can be visible immediately or only after complete cooling.
When do you use Standard DTF and when Blockout?
What matters is not only the polyester content but also the risk of dye migration. The overview shows you when Standard DTF is sufficient and when Blockout, with its special adhesive, is the better choice.
| Textile or order | Suitable transfer type | Important note |
|---|---|---|
| Cotton and cotton blends with at least 70 per cent cotton | Standard DTF | The economical choice for textiles not at risk of migration. |
| 100 per cent polyester or blends with at least 40 per cent polyester | Blockout DTF | Test beforehand, especially with strong colours and light areas of the design. |
| Jerseys, performance shirts, softshell and dyed sportswear | Consider Blockout DTF | Material, batch, dyeing and heat resistance affect the result. |
| Impregnated, water-repellent or silicone-coated textiles | Not suitable | The coating can prevent adhesion. Blockout does not solve this problem. |
| Many Blockout designs of the same size with fast processing | CUT Blockout DTF | The designs are pre-cut and need a correctly set up CutContour. |
Which format is suitable for what?
Choose the area according to design size and run. A4 and A3 are suitable for single designs and tests. Half metres, film by the metre and CUT Blockout support recurring polyester orders and larger runs.
| Format | Suitable for | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| A4, 210 x 297 mm | Tests, one-offs and small designs | Chest logos, names and small repeat orders |
| A3, 297 x 420 mm | Larger single designs | Back numbers, club logos or several small designs |
| Half metre, 600 × 500 mm | Smaller runs and mixed sizes | Additions to jersey sets and smaller team kits |
| By the metre, 600 × 1000 mm | Runs and recurring orders | Space-saving gang sheets for many designs |
| Custom length, 600 mm wide | Large runs | Any length from 10 cm to 3 m in one piece |
| Single design, up to 600 mm wide | One design in any quantity | Club or sponsor logos in series without your own gang sheet |
| CUT Blockout DTF, 560 x 1000 mm | Pre-cut single designs | Quick removal and placement without manual cutting |
No trimming: If you order Blockout in A4 or A3, the gang sheet stays in the format supplied. So create your file with the exact final dimensions from the start, as there is no automatic size adjustment.
Setting up print files for Blockout DTF correctly
- Your Blockout gang sheet can be uploaded as a PDF or PNG and must already be set up in the final format ordered.
- For clear contours, fine details and legible fonts, we recommend a resolution of 300 dpi.
- Remove the file background completely. Otherwise, every visible or non-transparent area will be printed.
- Leave the design unmirrored. The necessary mirroring takes place automatically in our production.
- Work in the CMYK colour space and, if possible, use the ISO Coated v2 (ECI) colour profile.
- Fonts and lines need to be at least 0.4 mm thick. With finer elements, there may not be enough adhesive, so application and durability cannot be guaranteed.
- Before uploading, check the spacing between designs and look out for unwanted semi-transparent pixels or layers.
- The Blockout adhesive is applied automatically in production. You do not need to create a separate channel or an additional layer for it.
If you do not want to build the gang sheet yourself, arrange your designs in the DTF Designer instead. For additional peace of mind, you can select the Pro File Check on a Blockout product where it is available.
Colour gradients and transparency: Colour gradients within a fully visible design can be printed without any problem. Transitions that slowly become transparent or fade out completely are critical. As every existing colour value is backed with white, this transition will later not match what you see on screen.
Additionally for CUT Blockout DTF: Each design needs its own closed cut line at least 1 pt thick. Set it up as a spot colour named exactly CutContour. Keep at least 5 mm between cut lines and between the cut line and the printed design.

Standard production or Blockout Express?
With standard production, your Blockout DTF transfers are produced within 1 to 3 working days. If your customer order is particularly urgent, choose the matching Blockout Express product. If your order, payment and error-free print files have all arrived by 11:00 (German time), your express order is produced on the same working day and, with express shipping, dispatched the same day. For orders of up to 10 metres in total, files are accepted until 14:00.
If you want the parcel to arrive on the following working day if possible, also book express shipping with DHL or UPS in the basket. In our experience, this works for around 95 per cent of shipments. The delivery time itself is up to the shipping carrier and can be delayed by weekends or public holidays.
If you want to avoid shipping, you can collect your finished Blockout order from us. We will let you know as soon as everything is ready.
How to order your Blockout DTF transfers
- Choose the Blockout format you need or a Blockout Express product.
- Prepare the Blockout gang sheet in the final format or put the designs together in the DTF Designer.
- Drag one or more PDF or PNG files into the upload field. You can also select all files together. This function is known as bulk upload.
- The shop shows each uploaded gang sheet individually. There, enter how often each file should be produced and remove any files added by mistake.
- Compare the quantity tiers shown. If you would like an additional file check, activate the Pro File Check on a product where it is available.
- Move the fully configured Blockout gang sheets to the basket and check the quantity, shipping method and order total there.
- After completing your order and payment, production starts as soon as all files are complete and error-free.
Requirements for file upload: The uploader processes single-page PDF files and PNG files of up to 500 MB per file. A multi-page PDF triggers a file error. In this case, you will receive an email and can send the corrected gang sheet by email or via WeTransfer, always quoting your order number.
Applying Blockout DTF transfers correctly
Before pressing, check the care label, the coating and the heat resistance of the textile. Lay the item flat on the heat press and make sure the pressing area is even and free of seams, buttons or zips.
For our Blockout DTF transfers, the reference values are 120 to 130 degrees, a pressing time of 12 seconds and medium pressure of around 3 bar. You can peel off the carrier film hot or cold. When the press opens, count briefly to three and then peel the film off quickly and flat.
Heat presses can have different tolerances in temperature and pressure. So check the first result and let the item cool down completely before processing a full run. Check both adhesion and possible dye migration. You will find the complete and current values in our heat press settings for Blockout DTF transfers.
For care, follow the information on the respective product and on the textile. For longer durability, we recommend washing the finished textile inside out at 30 degrees.
If Blockout does not work as expected
Stop processing and send our customer service your order number, clear photos, the exact material description and the temperature, pressing time and pressure used. Our team will review the information with you, narrow down possible causes and support you with the next steps.
